Then after that you can load that up to any GBA emulator and play to your heart's content. you should probably rename the file to reflect that. This should open the file selection screen and you need to use it to select the "Pokemon - Ultra Violet (1.22) LSA.ips" file and then click the "Open" button.Īfter that you immediately get another file selection screen you need to use to select the FireRed ROM file and then click the "Open" button again.Ī box should pop up indicating the patch was applied successfully and the FireRed ROM file is now modified to be Pokemo UltraViolet. To do that you start Lunar IPS by doing double click on it and then click "Apply IPS Patch" The contents of the mod file are just a bunch of instructions that tell the patching tool what modifications need to be made to the FireRed ROM file in order to produce the hacked "Pokemon: Ultra Violet Version" ROM file (which you can later use to play the game) There should be several files inside it but the ones we care about are the "Lunar IPS.exe" (a patching tool) and "Pokemon - Ultra Violet (1.22) LSA.ips" (the actual mod file) The file you get there is RAR compressed file, so you are going to need another program (like WinRAR) to extract the files inside it. Once you got the file and you have verified it is in fact the one needed for all of this to work, you are going to need a patch it with the mod you downloaded from but it is garbage that makes sense for GBA emulators and GBA hardware. If you open it with notepad or anything else, you would only see garbage there. The ROM file itself is just a file with a bunch of 1s and 0s. On the internet, MD5 used as a security measure to verify that the file you just downloaded is the what the publisher/creator of that file was making available for you to download and not some other file, like a virus or some other thing. If you got two files and you want to find out if their contents are identical, you can use and MD5 tool like this one to get their signature and if the values for both files is the same, it means that they are identical down to every single bit. The MD5 hash of a file is like a fingerprint. If you are not sure if you got the right one, then you can its MD5 value and compare it against the values I posted previously. It should not be that difficult to find the one. Well, you first need to find the ROM file described above.
